Abstract (EN)

In this study, by examining the concepts of 'utopia' and 'dystopia', it has been tried to determine how they have affected artists from the time they first entered the literature in history to the present, the reflections of dystopia on Turkish painting after 1950, and whether dystopian narrative elements are encountered in Turkish painting art. In this context, firstly, the concept of utopia has been discussed and defined. The effort to create an ideal social order, which is the main focal point of many philosophers, politicians, artists, and scientists on the stage of history, has been examined through the works that have survived to the present day, and it has been determined how utopia has evolved into dystopia with the Industrial Revolution and modernization. After defining dystopia, the relationship between dystopia and utopia was examined and it was concluded that utopia causes dystopia and at the same time, dystopia contains utopia. After dystopia's historical journey was touched upon, the dystopian narrative elements were determined by quoting from dystopian works of literature and it has tried to associate these narratives with works of art. The reflections of the determined dystopian narrative elements on Turkish painting after 1950 have been examined with a selection and literature has been created in the context of the subject by examining the artistic approaches of the artist whose dystopic narrative elements were present throughout their works. In the last part of the study, the impressions of dystopia, which we have begun to feel a lot in our current social lives, on my work were examined.
