Abstract (EN)
Today, complex compounds are of great importance in terms of finding drug precursors for the search for new target-specific drugs in cancer. The discovery of new drug precursors is still a popular area in today's research, due to the side effects, non- target specificity and limited use of chemotherapeutics currently used in treatment. The use of metal-based drugs with anti-carcinogenic activity supports the studies in this field. In this thesis study, the possible anti-carcinogenic activities of Dithiophosphonato cadmium (II) complexes, which were synthesized for the first time and brought to the literature, were investigated in breast cancer, which is the first among women in the world and in Turkey. The cytotoxicity, cell proliferation, metastatic and apoptotic effects of Dithiophosphonato cadmium (II) complexes on metastatic and invasive breast cancer cell lines MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cells were investigated. Significant effects were found at all incubation times and doses of the complexes studied. The response of cancer cells to substances is dose dependent. In general, the complexes inhibited cell proliferation and activated apoptotic mechanisms. As a result, findings were obtained that Dithiophosphonato cadmium (II) complexes induce apoptotic mechanism on breast cancer cells.
