Evaluation of the perforator diameter of distal based sural artery flabs before and after delay in diabetic feet

In this retrospective study, we investigated the perforator diameter of the distal based sural artery flap with surgical delay in diabetic patients. 10 patients were included in the study.We evaluated the lower extremity CT Angiography of 10 patients taken before and at least 3 weeks after the surgical delay. The study included 8 male and 2 female patients between the ages of 53 and 77 who had diabetic foot disease. In terms of wound closure, patients who did not perform distal based sural artery flap in 2 sessions were not included in the study. In CT angiography, we measured the diameter of the part of the distal-based sural artery flap where the most distal perforator exits from the peroneal artery.We planned the study with patients within our hospital from July 2019 to July 2022. The findings from this study show that in diabetic foot patients, the distal-based sural artery flap has increased perforator diameter with surgical delay. In such patients, surgical delayed flap can be used safely.
