The assessment of liver function test in diabetic patients

Diabetes mellitus whose incidence is constantly getting higher in the world and in our country is the most common endocrine disease and variety of organ and system damage, functional deficiencies and failures in the body could be seen in the course of the disease. Liver function test anomalies could often be observed in the patients who have long been Diabetes mellitus and haven't been well regulated. steatosis hepatis which is the most common reason for the anomaly in serum transaminase tests is a high incidence liver complication in diabetic patients. Furthermore, more serious conditions such as chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis may occur in diabetic patients. Therefore, it is necessary to seek for other reasons, apart from steatosis hepatis, especially viral indicators.In our study, we got pre-prandial blood samples from 60 patients (blood glucose level> 110 mg/dl, 207,3 ± 98,48) and 31 healthy people whose blood glucose levels were normal (70 < 110 mg/dl, 89,41 ± 9,24). we carried out ALT, AST, ALP, LDH, GGT, Total Bilirubin and Direct Bilirubin analysis in both groups. While AKŞ; (p < 0,0001), ALP and LDH (p < 0,005), ALT, AST and GGT (p < 0,05) levels were statistically high at significant degree, Total bilirubin and Direct bilirubin levels were statistically insignificant (p > 0,05), although it was higher than our control group. Moreover, we couldn't determine any statistical significance between any parameters for our groups in the correlation calculation.Key Words: ALP, ALT, AST, Diabetes mellitus, Direkt bilirubin, GGT, LDH, Total bilirubin
