Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACT Parotid Gland Sonoelastographic findings in patients with Chronic Renal failure undergoing hemodyalisis. Aim and Objective: As kidney failure progresses in chronic renal failure can be seen clinical changes such as parotid gland swelling, uremic odor, dry mouth, taste and salivary changes, most of these defined clinical features may occure due to salivary gland changes. The aim of this study was to investigate whether parotid gland paranchymal elasticity is affected by uremia or not. Material and Method: This prospective study isconsisted of 60 patients (30 asymptomatic-semptomatik CRF dialysis and 30 healthy control group) between March 2018- June 2018. All of the elastographic examinations were performed by the same radiologist on the superficial part of the parotid gland. Sonoelastographic examinations were performedwith a HI VISION Preirus ultrasound device(Hitachi Medical Systems, Tokyo, Japan). A linear 5–12MHz transducer was used to obtain the images. Obtained images were interpretted by two observers. Statistical analysis was performed for correlations with Spearman correlation test,Chi-Square and Fisher exact test was used for chategoric variables in group comparasion and for continuous variables Mann Whitney U test was performed. Results: İn our study ,we did not find any significant difference between right and left parotid gland score compared with dialysis duration per year. There was no statistically significance in right and left parotid gland elastographic score between the age and sex of the patient and healthy control group. Conclusion: We were able to illustrate that examiner-dependent sonoelastographic modality,do not add further information to B-mode and scintigraphy,in the evaluation of salivary gland involvement in patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis. Key Words: Elastography, Parotid, CRF, Uremia, Hemodialysis
