Abstract (EN)

Geodynamicevolution of thebasinanditsenvirons, locatedbetween Batman and Diyarbakır provincesandhousingtheTigrisRiver, andillumination of theseismicity of Diyarbakır provincewereaimed. As a result of thegeology of thestudyarea, 11 differentformationsweremappedexceptpre-Cretaceousunits. Theoldest of theseformations is theLowerEocene Gercüş formation, one of the Midyat Groupformations, andtheLowerEocene-LowerOligocene Hoya Formation, whichconsists of massivelimestones. TheLateEocene-OligoceneGermicformation, which is unconformablewith Hoya andconsists of anhydrite, shale, gypsum, dolomite andsandy-spindle dolomite, passesthrough. OverlyingtheGermicformationunconformably is theAquitanian-Burdigalian (LowerMiocene) EuphratesFormationandthickMiocene-LowerPliocene-agedPlioceneagedLowerMiocene-LowerPlioceneformations. TheUpperMiocene-Pliocene Yeniköy FormationoverliestheSelmoFormationandthe Gediktepe Formationconsisting of theunconformablePleistocenepebblylevel Gölpınar FormationandthePleistoceneClays. Theyoungestunits of thestudyareaareoldandnewalluvialcovers. It is alsoobserved in theBasalt 2 basaltsbelongingto Karacadağ Group. Intheshaping of thestudyarea, theseries of tectoniceventsarisingfromtheeffect of platemobility in theregionshould be interpretedtogether. Tectonicactivitiesstarted in theNeotectonicperiodwereeffective in takingthepresentshape of thebasin. Althoughthestudyareadoes not havethepotentialtocause a majorearthquake, it is likelyto be affectedbymobility in thenorth of theregion.
