Evaluation of Diyarbakir and Sanliurfa logistics village scenarios with SWOT-AHS integrated analysis

Today, logistics villages/centers are important structures that bring together all logistics activities in a region, providing strategic competitive advantage. Logistics centers are complex facilities that serve not only for material transportation and storage, but also encompass infrastructure elements serving all processes in the supply chain. While logistics centers serve various purposes depending on the region they are established, their primary goal is to provide a more efficient and effective freight transportation system. Logistics centers, varying according to the economic structure of the region, determine their capabilities based on the dynamics of that region. The necessity of conducting a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis and an integrated AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) analysis for evaluating the establishment of logistics villages in potentially rich regions like Diyarbakır and Şanlıurfa has been highlighted. These analyses enable us to make strategic decisions by considering each region's unique conditions and logistical potential. By examining the suitability of Diyarbakır and Şanlıurfa for logistics villages, we determine which location should be prioritized and identify potential disadvantages, thereby helping us identify the most impactful strategies for regional development. Specifically, conducting SWOT analysis allows us to identify the strengths and opportunities of both regions, while also pinpointing weaknesses and threats. AHS analysis helps determine the speed and priorities of opportunities, guiding strategic planning. In conclusion, the SWOT-AHS integrated analysis of the logistics village scenarios of Diyarbakır and Şanlıurfa is of critical importance for evaluating regional development and the potential of the logistics sector. These analyses guide strategic planning by identifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of both regions. Particularly, the recommendation to establish Diyarbakır as a logistics hub in the TRC2 region will strengthen the region's logistical infrastructure, contributing to both the local economy and the national logistics network. This step will help the region become more competitive in international trade and embark on a sustainable development process.
