Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between pain, function, kinesiophobia and proprioception in patients aged 40-65 years with knee osteoarthritis. The study included 30 volunteer patients with knee osteoarthritis who applied to the Physical Therapy Unit of Private Rami Hospital. Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) for pain assessment; Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) for functional assessment; Tampa Kinesiophobia Scale for assessment of kinesiophobia and for assessment of proprioception; Measured using Joint Position Sense. The relationship between VAS, WOMAC, Tampa Kinesiophobia and Joint Position Sense was analyzed. As a result of the analysis, there was a moderate (r=.475; p=0.009) and highly positive correlation (r=.764; p<0.001) between the sleep pain scale score and the mean 45 degree error difference and WOMAC, respectively, with the rest pain scale score. There was a highly positive correlation between WOMAC (r=.675; p<0.001), activity pain scale and 30 (r=.393; p=0.027), 45 degree mean error (r=.393; p=0.032), and WOMAC (r=.650; p<0.001), a moderate and high degree of positive correlation was found, respectively. According to the results obtained from our study, a correlation was observed between pain during sleep and the mean proprioception error difference of 45 degrees and functionality, between pain at rest and functionality, and between activity pain and proprioception evaluation performed at 30.45 degrees and functionality. However, no significant relationship was found between kinesiophobia scores and other parameters. As a result, it is thought that there may be a relationship between pain, different degrees of proprioception and functionality.
