The Eastern Roman Emperor Tiberius Constantine (574-582)

Despite his short reign, The Eastern Roman Emperor Tiberius Constantine is an remarkable person. In the Eastern Roman or by other definition Byzantine History, he is one of the emperors who reigned between the the death of Emperor Justinian in 565 and the ascending to the throne of Emperor Heraclius in 610. He had the state administration as caesar between the years 574-578. He ruled the empire alone as augustus between the years 578-582. During his reign, there have been many important developments. It provides information about the internal mechanisms of the empire from social life to state administration, economic situation, political developments and diplomatic dialogues. All these are important in terms of Turkish History, Iranian History, European History, regional historiography as well as the History of the Eastern Roman Empire. Also, his form of administration influenced both his own period and the later periods of the empire. After the death of Tiberius Constantine who took the crown Emperor Iustinus II, the reign of Emperor Maurice started. This study contains the reign of the Eastern Roman Emperor Tiberius Constantine. At the same time, in this thesis that is biographical study, life and reign of Tiberius Constantine is investigated with the help of the Eastern Roman history sources. In the formation of content, support was also received from areas such as numismatics, law, as well as Roman history. In the introduction part of the thesis, the purpose of the thesis and the content of the thesis in Eastern Roman History are explained. Then, the method and resources are indicated. His origin, family and career took places in his life before becoming emperor. The process of ascension to the throne after the illness of Justin II., and then the internal issues, in foreign policy relations with Sasanians, Avars, Gokturks or Early Medieval kingdoms in Europe is researched in main part of this thesis.
