Abstract (EN)

At the beginning of the 20th century, many religious texts written in Eastern Turkish were printed in the printing house established by Swedish missionaries in Kashgar province of East Turkistan. Since these texts are instructive, they are of a quality that will enable an analysis on the language of the Turkish people living in the East Turkistan region at that time. In this study, the dialectal features of the work Mesīḥniŋ Cemāʿatı (Messiah's Community), which was printed by Swedish missionaries in Kashgar, were compared with New Uyghur Turkish and its language features were introduced. In Mesīḥniŋ Cemāʿatı, the translation features of the translation from Latin to Eastern Turkish have been evaluated in terms of the verses of the Bible translated into Eastern Turkish. Our aim in this study is to make a small contribution to clarify the features of the transition period between Chagatai Turkish and New Uyghur Turkish, which became a written language in the early 20th century. During the study, it was transcribed from beginning to end, taking into account the language features of the period. After the transcription, the text was transferred to Turkey Turkish. An index was created on the Latin-lettered text. In the analysis section, all phonological and morphological features of the text are analyzed and the similarities and differences with Today's Uyghur Turkish are discussed. By evaluating these differences, it was concluded that Mesīḥniŋ Cemāʿatı is a transitional work. Keywords: Eastern Turki, Bible translation, Kashgar, Mesīḥniŋ Cemaʿatı.
