Abstract (EN)

In this study, the benefits characteristic of the water in the province of Duhok in the north of Iraq was investigated. The geographical location of Duhok province away from the Iraqi capital (470 km). It is located between longitude (42.20.55) and (44.18.19) in the east and latitudes north (36.10.36) and (37.23.24), that is, in the northern temperate zone of the equator, it has a distinguished position in the outside world and in Iraq. The Duhok government consists of (7) districts (Zaho, Akre, Amadiyah, Şeyhan, Berdereş), the largest one is Amadiyah district in terms of area, and Duhok district is the smallest. The total area of Duhok district is (1014.2 km2). the second part consists of the geographical features of Duhok province, physical geological, geomorphological, soil features, climate and vegetation characteristics. Human characteristics consist of population, settler, economic and industrial characteristics. The third part includes of the determination of water resources in the province of Duhok, the use of water resources, the surface water and underground water. The Tigris River and its branches, Habur, Big Zab, Hazer, Ruyi Shin, Zinta River, from these rivers thus pruduce about 21150 cubic meters per hour, this water is used for drinking and domestic purposes, 1300 liters of water from the Great Zab river and 1 million liters from the Hazir river is used for industry. In addition, the capacity of the Duhok big dam is (52) million cubic meters of water, (4) million cubic meters is only used for drinking and domestic purposes in one year. There are many small dams, a total of 56 small dams, their total water (12769588 cubic meters) used only for agriculture. The underground water consists of springs and wells, there are (3048) springs In the province of Duhok. The total capacity of these springs is (1982.96 l/h), (46.2%) percentage is used for agriculture, (33.9%) is used for drinking and domestic purpose, (14.1%) for watering animals, (5.7%) for skin diseases, and (0.3%) for industry. In addition, there are (4336) wells, their total capacity is (787.42 l / min), (46.6%) is used for agriculture, (56.7%) for drinking and domestic use, and (2.7%) for industry.
