Abstract (EN)
It is important for individuals to be aware of their emotions, recognize them, and express them. Emotional eating occurs when people engage in eating behaviors during negative emotional states. Although emotional eating has been associated with negative emotions, recent research has shown that there may also be a relationship between positive emotions and emotional eating. In addition, in the age of technology in which we live, individuals have developed some forms of addiction related to technology, and in this context, it is thought that there may be a relationship between emotional eating and technology addiction. This study was conducted to examine the relationship between emotional eating behavior, technology addiction, and happiness. The study is a quantitative research and the relational scanning model was used. The personal information form prepared by the researcher, which includes socio-demographic information, Turkish Emotional Eating Scale (TEES), Technology Addiction Scale (TAS), and Oxford Happiness Short Form Scale (OHFSS) were used to collect the data. Data collection was conducted through "Google Forms". Pearson Correlation Analysis, Independent Samples t- test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), simple and multiple linear regression analysis were used in the data analysis. As a result of the analysis, it was found that women had higher emotional eating scores than men. There was no statistically significant relationship between marital status, any health problems, relationship status, and emotional eating scores. There was a statistically significant relationship between emotional eating scores and reasons for seeing a dietician due to weight, educational status, weight satisfaction, and acceptance of body shape. There was a moderate negative relationship between emotional eating and happiness, and a moderate positive relationship between technology addiction and emotional eating. It was found that technology addiction with social media addiction, instant messaging addiction, and web addiction sub-dimensions significantly predicted emotional eating behavior related to the concept of happiness. The results obtained from the study confirm the purpose of our study, which is to investigate the relationship between emotional eating behavior, technology addiction, and happiness. Keywords: Emotional Eating, Technology Addiction, Happiness
