Comparison of university students with divorced parents and university students with non-divorced parents in terms of personality traits, cognitive emotion regulation and psychological resilience

Psychological resilience, cognitive emotion regulation, personality and divorce have been the subject of research along with different topics in the literature. The main purpose of this study is to compare individuals whose parents are divorced or not in terms of emotion regulation skills, psychological resilience levels and personality traits. The research consisted of two groups of 108 people whose parents were married, consisting of 77 women and 31 men, who were educated and trained at Istanbul Gelişim University and Istanbul Okan University between 2019-2020, and a total of 208 people, 67 women 33 men, 100 divorced parents. A personal information form consisting of questions such as gender, age, parents' divorce status was used. In addition, the five factor personality scale and finally the psychological resilience scale were used for the personality traits of the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Scale. The information obtained from the researches, the data to be collected from the research group were analyzed using the SPPS 25 program. According to the results of the research; A moderately significant relationship was found in cognitive emotion regulation subscales of individuals whose parents were divorced or not. When the relationship between cognitive emotion regulation skills and personality was examined, a significant positive and negative relationship was found. A positive relationship was found between the personality traits and psychological resilience levels of individuals with divorced parents.
