A monography on the village Hacıaslanlar Edremi̇t

In this study, which deals with the daily routine of the village life of Tahtacı Turkmen living by Mount of Ida; the purpose is set as observing the perpetual of social and cultural features from point of view of the present. Emphasis was made on the changes in customs and effort was put for determining the effects and sources for such changes from attendees' view. A quest was set off for finding an answer the way that Tahtacı Turkmen define and the experienced changes in the content or the image of the symbols created within these definitions. A study was performed in terms of the phases for a member of such community to be titled as "Tahtacı Turkmen" and to belong to that community; the expectations of the community from its members with the presence of positive and negative sanctions for performance of such expectations, as well as analyzing effectiveness and functions the aforementioned sanctions. As a result of the field study carried out with the purpose of analyzing both changed face and the remaining one of the Tahtacı Turkmen's within the instability of time and conditions; a monograph of a certain village has been put forward. Many socio-cultural sections in this community were tried to be perforated; and thus, justification for certain conditions and determinations in the different aspects of life and the possibility of eliminating margin of errors were pursued. Apart from the traditional practices that are extinct or almost extinct; it was also aimed to record the practices reaching the present day either without change or with partial changes.
