Abstract (EN)
Aim: The purpose of study is to examine the effect of web-based and individualized education program, which is prepared for premature infant care, on the self-confidence of mothers. Method: The study was carried out between September 2015 and May 2018 at Konya Education and Research Hospital and Necmettin Erbakan University Medical Faculty Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Neonatal Services. The research was methodologically and experimentally conducted with pre-test and post-testcontrol groups.The sample of the study consisted of 84 mothers whose first baby was premature when born. The mothers, who met the inclusion criterion, were divided into two groups as intervention and control groups. The intervention group comprised of the mothers who take training routine discharge education and web-based discharge education in one month. The control group comprised of the mothers who had training routine discharge and education leaflets. The quality of the web-pages was evaluated with DISCERN. The content of the web-pages was also evaluated by eight independent experts via questionnaire format. The availability of web-pages and its content were measured with System Usability Scale-SUS. 46 mothers also evaluated the content of web-pages by using anevaluation form. The mother's self-confidence was gauged by using the Pharis self-confidence scale. Findings: The average of 15 questions on the DISCERN scale was 4.43 out of 5. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of the scale was 0.84, p = 0.000. The content of the web page has an average of 3.37 points out of 4 from the experts. The webpage availability score was 86.47 out of 100. The coefficient between expert opinions was 0.94, p = 0.000. The webpage availability score was 86.47 out of 100. Self-confidence scores of mothers who received web-based training increased significantly compared to the pre-training level (p = 0.001). Conclusion: The website has been used effectively by the mothers. The self-confidence of the mothers who gave birth to a premature baby in the first delivery increased significantly after the use of web-site.
