Abstract (EN)

Alpha-amylase is a well-known therapeutic target for the treatment and maintenance of postprandial blood glucose rises. Alpha-amylase helps digest carbohydrates by breaking down large polysaccharide molecules such as starch into smaller ones. Also, the enzyme is responsible for postprandial hyperglycemia and an increase in blood sugar levels. In this study, we investigated the effects of some Schiff bases and their complexes on pancreatic amylase activity in vitro by spectrophotometric methods. In addition, possible attachment patterns were estimated using the Molegro Virtual Docker docking program. It has been determined that while Schiff bases inhibit enzyme activity, copper complexes activate it. Palladium complexes were generally not effective on the enzyme.
