Abstract (EN)

Objective: It was aimed to investigate the phenotypic and genotypic characteristics of Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis and Staphylococcus aureus subsp. anaerobius strains isolated from abscesses found in sheep and goats reared in the Aegean region. Materials and Methods: In the study, C. pseudotuberculosis and S.aureus subsp. anaerobius were detected from abscess samples of 100 small ruminants between 2021 and 2023, using conventional, rapid diagnostic and molecular methods. anaerobius was isolated and the phylogenetic affinities of the isolates were determined by the RAPD-PCR method. Results: Out of a total of 100 materials, 17 C. pseudotuberculosis and 31 S. aureus subsp. anaerobius were isolated and identified. As a result of genotyping with RAPD-PCR, which was carried out to determine the phylogenetic affinities of the isolates, it was determined that they showed a similarity of 27% -100% in S. aureus subsp. anaerobius isolates, and 41 -100% in C. pseudotuberculosis isolates. Conclusion: In this study, the presence of C. pseudotuberculosis and S. aureus subps. anaerobius was determined in sheep and goats raised in the Aegean region. As a result of our study, it was concluded that methods that can be effective against both factors should be applied during preventive and therapeutic applications in abscess cases in sheep and goats.
