Abstract (EN)

Objectives: Half of patients with heart failure (HF) have a preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (HFpEF). This clinical entity is called heart failure with preserved ejection fraction or diastolic heart failure. The prevalance of HFpEF is increasing with age. The diagnosis of HFpEF remains challenging. No treatment has yet been shown, convincingly, to reduce morbidity or mortality in patients with HFpEF. More trials are needed in this area. More predictors of mortality are needed to be identified at hospital admission in HFpEF patients. We aimed to identify demographic data, comorbidity and treatments of the patients who admitted to our clinic and also the effect of this demographic data, comorbidity and treatments on mortality. Materials and methods: 3493 patients who admitted to İntensive Care Unit of Internal Medicine of Ege University Faculty were assesed. Their hospital records were reviewed retrospectively. 105 patients records were saved. The patients whom the hospital length of stay <3 days and the patients who had malignancy were excluded. We analyzed records of 105 patients. Results: Mean age was 62,019±16,88 years for 105 patients. %36,2 of the patients were male and %63,8 of the patients were female. %59 of the patients were hypertensive, %49,5 of the patients were diabetic. %42,9 of the patients had chronic kidney disease. There was no interaction of diabetes, gender, hypertension and chronic kidney disease on the in hospitaly mortality. In-hospital usage of inotropes and being on hemodialysis were associated with in hospital mortality. In our study mortality rate was %9,5. Lower pulse pressure on admission and lower serum sodium on admission were associated with in hospital mortality. When the difference between the outcome and admission data of our patients is calculated, ∆lymphocyte count and ∆Cardiothoracic ratio were associated with in hospital mortality. Conclusion: In our study comparasion with literatures, prevelance of chronic kidney disease and in hospital mortality rate were higher. A few predictors of mortality was determined. As conclusion, we have had the chance to examine HFpEF patients of our clinic and compare with literatures. İt was determined we have similar clinical characteristics and predictors of mortality with literatures.
