Examination of occupational health and safety in laboratories in educational institutions

Studies on the practices of occupational health safety in laboratories were investigated in secondary schools. In this thesis, the Occupational Health and safety law numbered 6331, and then the MEB 2014/16 circulars and related regulations were investigated. The laboratories in which teachers and students work are studied at the selected public secondary school. First, vocational secondary and laboratories were introduced. Prior to the examination of their studies in laboratories, the laboratory was defined, laboratory designs were examined, the devices used in laboratories were introduced, instructions for use of the devices, the dangers of warnings, warning signs, chemicals used, and other laboratory materials are introduced. The instructions on the devices and chemicals used in laboratories, storing the chemicals, storage, hazards, hazard warning signs, GBF safety information forms of chemical substances, and labeling of chemicals. Safe and healthy working rules, personal protective equipment to be used during laboratory studies, accidents to be experienced in laboratories and measures to be taken before accident to prevent any accident, rules to be applied, first aid issues that are appropriate to be done after the accident are discussed. During the preparation of the thesis, the photographs of the space were taken, the user teachers and students in each study through these photographs to see the laboratories they saw in each day in a different perspective to provide a view of the Tried. The importance of labeling material safety data forms and chemicals and their awareness on this issue, laboratory layout, and appropriate or disrupting situations in laboratories have been determined to draw attention to these issues.
