J c HUMAN FACTOR AT CHANGE PROCESS IN EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND THE ROLES OF SCHOOL MANAGERS Yeşim SÖNMEZ Fırat University The Institute of Social Sciences Depertmant of Educational Sciences 2005, 148 page The fact of change which is felt in every aspect of our lives and has become an inseparable part of the organizations, inquiring great effort, commitment and collaboration, is rather complex and difficult process. Especially in educational organizations of which input and output is "human", change and innovation has had utmost importance for educating the people who responds the needs in today's conditions. Many organizations have been unsuccessful in that thorny process because they have ignored the important element of the organization the "human". The aim of that research is, based on the literature review, to determine the importance of the human factor in the educational settings, and based on the views of principals, teachers and other employees working it the schools, to determine how well the principals overcome their roles for activating the human for realizing successful change process. This research has been done through 5 scale Likert type questionnaire based on the views of the school members in all the private and public secondary schools and in 5 primary schools chosen randomly from five educational regions in the city center of Elazığ. In the research, the change dimensions determined by the researchers' themselves, such as "preparing the change environment", "communication", "motivation", "empowerment", "trust", and "collaboration and participation" have been taken into consideration. Concomitant with the results obtained by the analysis of the data, some recommendations have been developed for the realization of more successful change process at schools.Key words: Educational Organizations, Change process, Resistance to Changes Human factor ^
