The concept of conservation primarily began with buildings that had a certain identity in history. The buildings were protected by foundations or the people living there. The aim of preserving these structures was to maintain the durability and usability of the structure. Nowadays, areas such as cities, rural areas, streets and neighborhoods have been protected, considering that the texture, which does not remain at the scale of a single building but also has an identity, is also a heritage. Because these protected areas shed light on the social life and architecture of the period in which they were built (Ahunbay, 2019) If sociocultural changes are not reflected in the lifestyle and due to economic inadequacies, traditional housing is destroyed and sometimes abandoned. (Kızmaz,2021) The basis of the thesis is the fact that the traditional architectural heritage elements in Keban are under threat. These structures are important indicators that reflect not only the physical identity of the city but also its socio-economic and cultural logic. Therefore, it is of great importance to preserve these structures and transfer them to the future, as this action plays a vital role in maintaining the historical richness and character of the city. For people who want to pass on their experiences to future generations and leave a mark, the house and the action areas surrounding it have become the concrete equivalent of experiences with the traces of existence it contains, beyond being a shelter. (Özbek and Uluoğlu, 2018) It is accepted that academic activities in this field play a critical role in increasing awareness about the protection of traditional architectural heritage. However, the inadequacy and scarcity of existing studies emphasize the need for resources in this field. In this context, further academic studies will contribute to the development of effective strategies for the protection of this heritage. Today, ignorance, unconsciousness and wrong practices in the restoration of architectural heritage damage these valuable cultural assets. In order to prevent these incorrect restoration practices and to ensure the adoption of correct approaches, academic studies in this field aim to provide guidance on correct restoration methods. In this context, it is aimed to provide social, cultural and economic contribution by carrying out correct restoration practices and correct functionalization in order to protect the architectural heritage.
