Abstract (EN)

Postoperative intraabdominal adhesions are frequently seen. Studies about the reasons and prevention of the intraabdominal adhesions that cause so many morbidites, have been processed by many researchers. Besides, expression of the significance of the suitable surgical technique to prevent postoperative adhesions, there are so many studies on pharmachological agents and physical barriers.In this study: it is aimed to compare the efficacy and cost-effectivity of the icodextrin 4% and auto-crosslink hyaluronic acid, which are both effective as a physical barrier on preventing postoperative intraabdominal adhesions.In this study 30 healthy rats were wed which were 250-300 gram weighted and kind of Wistar Albino. Each group included 10 rats. Following cecal-ileal abrasion to rats in per group, to sham group 5 cc SP, to icodextrin group 5 cc icodextrin 4% solution and to hyaluronic acid group 1 cc auto-crosslink hyaluronic acid gel was applied. After 14 days, following a second operation, adhesion intensity scoring and histopathological (inflammation, fibrosis) investigation was performed.While the lowest postoperative adhesion intensity score was found on hyaluronic acid group, the highest score was found on sham group. When the groups were compared between themselves, significant statistical difference was found. When both hyaluronic acid and icodextrin groups were compared with sham group, again statistical significant difference was found. Although hyaluronic acid had lower adhesion intensity score against icodextrin it was seen that there was no significant statistical difference. In the aspect of inflammation and fibrosis, although hyaluronic acid and icodextrin groups had lower scores against sham group; there were no significant statistical difference between.In our study it's understood that both auto-crosslink hyaluronic acid gel and icodextrin 4% solution are effective on reducing postoperative intraabdominal adhesions and their effects are similar. In addition; we suggest that icodextrin 4% solution has a positive addition on cost-effectivity and so this can be an advantage for clinical studies.As a result; despite of all, there should be much more studies for finding the most suitable anti-adhesive barriers.
