Abstract (EN)

Darcy's law can become invalid under certain conditions where the flow velocity is larger or smaller than a critical value, thereby producing a non-Darcian flow. Non-Darcian flow problems are relatively more difficult to deal with due to associated high degree of nonlinearity. Nevertheless, in the past few decades, great progress has been made in studying non-Darcian flow problems in several geoscience disciplines. In this review paper, we introduce the background of the laws governing non-Darcian flow behavior. We also review and elaborate on the recent developments on non-Darcian flow in high- and low-permeability media and non-Darcian flow associated with heat transfer, gas phase non-Darcian flow, and multiphase. Gravel materials are widely used in hydraulic structures such as self-spillway dams. Darcy's law is used in engineering applications to represent flow through soil in this case the flow will be Laminar. When analyzing the flow through coarse porous materials such as gravel it leads to deviation in the results from Darcy's law because of high velocity of flow that causes a nonlinear relationship between hydraulic gradient and bulk flow velocity. The present study aimed to investigate the behaviour of flow through monosized gravel and to determine the effect of hydraulic gradient and gravel mean size in hydraulic conductivity under turbulent flow condition. The porous materials used in this study were seven monosized gravel samples with diameters ranging from -4.75+4 to -31.5+25" " mm. A hydraulic conductivity test rig was constructed to measure the hydraulic conductivity of the gravel samples. The results showed that increasing gravel size lead to decrease the pressure variation due to increase the outlet pressure comparison with small size particle grave media. Moreover, level of flow turbulence increased with increase frictional factor for all selected media, at the same time increasing gravel size from (-4.75+4) to (-31.5+25 mm) lead to decrease m-index for level of flow turbulence to less than 30% of media with (-31.5+25 mm) grave size.
