Abstract (EN)

Hydrocarbon generation potentials were determined by examining the organic geochemical properties of oil shales belonging to the Eocene aged Çeltek Formation in Çeltek (Amasya) and Sorgun (Yozgat) fields. For this purpose Pyrolysis, Modified Fischer Assay (MFA), Gas Chromatography (GC), Thin Layer Chromatography analyzes as well as Organic Petrographic and Organic Facies analyzes of oil shale samples were performed. While the Eocene aged Çeltek Formation consists of meandering fluvial and lacustrine lithofacies assemblages in the Çeltek (Amasya) Basin, it was deposited in a terrestrial-lacustrine environment, possibly without sea influence, in the Sorgun (Yozgat) Basin before the transgression of the sea. Oil shales belonging to the Eocene aged Çeltek Formation were deposited in anoxic- disoxic storage conditions in both basins, and the average organic matter contents were 9.71 wt% and 6.19%, respectively. It has been determined that the kerogen type in the Çeltek (Amasya) and Sorgun (Yozgat) fields of the studied samples is Type I and Type II and they have oil generation potential. The average Tmax measurements in Çeltek (Amasya) and Sorgun (Yozgat) fields are 439.6 and 435.04 (℃), respectively. MFA analysis was carried out in order to determine the oil potentials of the samples examined and it was determined that the % oil (w/w) value of the Çeltek (Amasya) field was medium economic with an average of 5.13% while the samples of the Sorgun (Yozgat) field were uneconomical with an average of 2.20%.
