Abstract (EN)
Within the scope of this thesis, it was aimed to evaluate the brain lobes, substantia alba, substantia grisea, cerebellum and ventricles volumes of 45 patients diagnosed with epilepsy. Our study was conducted retrospectively. Our research covers the MRI images of a total of 90 people, 45 patients diagnosed with epilepsy and 45 healthy people, aged between 20-82, who applied to Malatya Training and Research Hospital, Department of Neurology. T1 sequence MRI images of the patients were uploaded to the VolBrain online website and the upload was completed. The VolBrain program performed the volumetric measurements automatically. In the epilepsy group of our study, the changes in the volumes of the left occipital lobe, fourth ventricule and white matter were found to be insignificant (p = 0.121, p = 121, p = 0.981, respectively). It was observed that the changes in the volumes of grey matter, frontal lobe, temporal lobe, parietal lobe, right occipital lobe and left insular lobe decreased significantly compared to the control group (p˂0.01), while the change in the volume of the right insular lobe increased significantly (p=009). The data obtained from our study will be supportive for subsequent studies. We also think that the atrophy occurring in patients with epilepsy will shed light on the clinical process of the disease.
