Abstract (EN)

The goal of this study is to find out how cystatin-c, insulin, HbA1c, and other factors affect people with DM2 in Iraq and what effect it has on them. This study used 120 people from Iraq. Two groups were made out of them (60 patients was DM group patients and 60 control group). All of the people in the study were from Iraq's Wasit Governorate's Al-Zahraa Teaching Hospital. Patients were split into two groups: those who were overweight and had a body mass index (BMI) of less than 30 kg/m2 and those who were not overweight and had a BMI of 18.5-24.9 kg/m2. The average age of the control group was between 20 and 65 years old, with a mean of (31.52±11.3) years. The average age of the obese group was 45.23±9.1 years, with a range of 20–55 years. Their BMI was also linked to diabetes by a p-value of <0.05. The statistical analysis showed that people who were overweight had higher levels of blood glucose, insulin, and HbA1c than people who were not overweight. Also, the results showed how different they were from each other (P <0.05). Based on these results, it seems likely that being overweight makes you more likely to get dyslipidemia along with DM. This means that lipid profile have a strong link with DM. When we compared DM cases and control groups for Cystatin-C mean (1.9, 0.58), we found a significant difference (p value <0.001).
