Abstract (EN)

The present study investigated the perceptions of ELT Department instructors on ethics concept in language testing. The study further aimed at collecting information in order to develop a `code of ethics? or `code of practice? in language testing for Turkish Education System. The study was carried out with the instructors of ELT Department at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. The data were collected via qualitative research methodology; the questionnaire was administered to 28 instructors at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. The data were analysed and interpreted with the help of computer program SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences). The findings obtained through the questionnaire revealed that most of the instructors do not know whether there is a `code of ethics? for language testing in Turkey or not. However, they believe that a `code of ethics? for language testing is necessary. Furthermore, they indicated that `a code of ethics? should be developed considering the value systems of the Turkish culture.
