Abstract (EN)
The Ethiopia-Somalia relations were always hostile and two countries never established peaceful, mutual and friendly relations and this hostile relations date way back to the 16 century after Ottoman supported Somali Adal Sultanate waged a war against Christian Kingdom of Abyssinia. By taking advantage the collapse of Somalia central government and regional imbalance, Ethiopia continuously involved in Somalia internal affairs by using different ways to destabilize Somalia or minimize the risks coming from different opposing factions in Somalia since 1991. Many times, Ethiopia intervened Somalia in order to keep the new status quo. This study examines the impact of Ethiopian foreign policy towards Somalia from 1991 to 2017. The study, which is divided into four chapters, is guided by three objectives that are; to determine the impact of Ethiopia's foreign policy towards Somalia and its impact on peace process, to identify factors that drive the foreign policy of Ethiopia towards Somalia, and to analyze Ethiopian intervention in Somalia and its war against Islamic extremists.
