Evaluation of some immunological and biochemical parameters in female breast cancer

In the Kirkuk Oncology Center in Iraq conducted a cross-sectional study to assess immunological and biochemical parameters in female breast cancer patients. The study included 270 women diagnosed with breast cancer and 50 healthy individuals without a family history of breast cancer. The findings showed that breast cancer was most prevalent in the 40-59 age range, with the highest percentage in the 40-49 age group. Most participants had primary education and were married. Most had no family history of breast cancer. There were significant differences in biochemical parameters between breast cancer patients and the control group. Notably, breast cancer patients had lower Hb levels and elevated levels of CA 15-3, CEA, and IL-10 compared to the control group. Ferritin, GSH, LDH, ALP, GGT and SGOT levels were also quite different between the two groups. Ferritin levels significantly increased with advancing cancer stage. Hemoglobin (Hb) levels were lower in T2N1M0 compared to T1N0M0 and T3N2M1. LDH levels were significantly higher in T1N0M0. As a result, these indicate that the potential diagnostic and prognostic value of these markers in assessing and managing breast cancer. The distribution of breast cancer patients across various tumor node-metastasis stages indicated a significant proportion of early-stage cases and a larger group with more advanced characteristics.
