Abstract (EN)

The role of women in traditional societies has been shaped through household chores and childcare. As a result of the economic and social conditions in which women are active over time, the process of motherhood has different aspects, but women's desire to become a mother continues. The purpose of this research; It is determined that the opinions of the women who take the responsibility of being a mother are shaped before, during and after being a mother. In addition to biological mothers, the study was extended with the views of adoptive and maternal women in foster families. In this study, the effects of family structures, culture grown, character structure of the spouse on women's desire to become a mother were examined. Five foster and five adoptive mothers who got support by The Foundation of Foster Family and Adoptive Family, six biological mothers selected by purposive sampling method were included in the study. As a result of the research; it was seen that social norms and traditional family structure were the determinants of women 's preference of becoming a mother beyond biological factors and that motherhood was interpreted mostly in the sociological dimension rather than instinctively.
