Abstract (EN)

Especially today, depending on the changing living conditions, individuals can change their eating habits, the quality and quantity of the foods they consume. However, changing lifestyles can also affect relationship dynamics. Individuals who have difficulty in coping with challenging situations may exhibit behaviors that may have detrimental effects on physical and psychological health. Based on these points, in this study, the relationships between emotional eating behavior, which is one of the disordered eating attitudes and behaviour, and the relationship dynamics of married individuals are investigated within the framework of mindfulness and spousal support. In this study, it is aimed to explore the relationship between emotional eating behaviors of married individuals, mindfulness and spousal support. Within the scope of the study, data were collected from a total of 443 (Mean Age = 37, SD= 9.79) participants, 216 of whom were female and 227 male. Data collected from participants using the Demographic Information Form, Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire, Emotional Eating Scale, Mindful Attention Awareness Scale and Spousal Support Scale were analysed using non-parametric test methods, Mann Whitney U and Spearman correlation test, and multiple linear regression tests. When the data obtained within the scope of this study were analyzed, it was seen that only the level of mindfulness significantly predicted emotional eating behavior. In addition, it has been found that this predictor manifests itself at different levels in men and women and shows a higher level of positive predictive relationship in men than in women. As a result, it will be important to consider the usefulness and effectiveness of mindfulness skills in the development of effective prevention and treatment programs for dealing with emotional eating behavior.
