Socio-cultural life in Azerbaijan cities by Evliya Çelebi Travel

Seyahatname, Evliya Çelebi's ten-volume work includes the historical, architectural characteristics of the cities, people's ethnical characteristics and clothing-style, belief, food and language of the people in the 17th century of Ottoman and neighboring states' geography. He not only traveled to many lands of Ottoman but also visited neighbouring states. He went to Azerbaijan geography twice, in 1646 and 1655. While his being sent to Tebriz as an ambassador by Erzurum Defterzâde Mehmed Paşa when in Erzurum, his second trip took place by his being sent to Tebriz back by Van Beylerbeyi Melek Ahmed Paşa in 1655. As a result of these expeditions, he had the opportunity to move around many places. In this study, the socio-cultural structure of the cities of Azerbaijan mentioned in Seyahatname will be examined.
