Abstract (EN)
The main subject of this thesis is to examine the words that fantastic literary translations bring into the language and the place these words have in the Turkish polysystem. Before examining the words in question, its history and spatial characteristics is briefly overviewed. The theoretical framework of the thesis is based on the concepts of localization and foreignisation by Lawrence Venuti and the polysystem theory of Itamar Even-Zohar. Following the theoretical framework, the made up words in the Harry Potter, Earthsea and Lord of the Rings series, which are chosen as the subject of the study, are exemplified with the source and target text sections. The place of the words brought into the language through translations in the target system and their effects on the target system are examined within the framework of the polysystem theory.
