Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to improve the production performance of the apparel companies by determining the appropriate sewing parameters for specified fabric groups. For this purpose, knitted fabrics with different weight and raw material were produced. Samples were sewn with using different sewing parameters (stitch type, seam direction, sewing thread type, needle size, and stitch density) and seam strength, seam pucker, sewing damage and seam efficiency properties were measured before and after 10 cycles laundering. The data obtained from experimental studies were evaluated statistically. In the scope of the data, the factors that affect seam quality and the relationships between fabric, sewing thread, sewing parameters and washing procedure on seam quality were analyzed. As a result of the study, equations were derived by multivariate variance analysis for the prediction of seam strength, seam pucker, and sewing damage by using fabric properties, sewing thread properties, and sewing machine parameters.
