The effect of different doses of calcium nitrate application in some strawberry cultivars on yield and fruit quality criterias with nutrition element concentration in leaf

This study conducted in five strawberry (Sevgi, Ebru, Kaşka, Osmanlı, Camaosa) cultivars with different flesh firmness in order to determinate the effect of different calcium nitrate doses on yield, fruit quality and contents of macro and micro nutritional elements in leaves during 2012-2013 growing season. In the experiment , calcium nitrate was used as water (control), 150ml /100ml (1st dose), 300ml /100ml (2nd dose) and 450ml /100ml (3rd dose) on foliage with one week interval. Outcome of the study showed that the applications have no effect on yield per plant, rate of marketable fruits amount in total yield and the concentration of copper element of leaves. Although fruit flesh firmness affected by different applications in some months, cultivars were determined as main reason for this differences. The variation among the examined many criteria in this study were due to the cultivars. During the growing season, effect of different doses of calcium nitrate Ca(NO3)2 on the concentrations of plant nutrient elements were determined. In general, increasing doses of Ca(NO3)2 effected on the concentration of N and Ca of leave positively. On the other hand, remaining macro element contents were not affected from different Ca(NO3)2 doses. The differences among the concentrations of macro elements resulted from all examined months and seasonal changes. Fe elements in leaves were decreased significantly during growing period. Variation in the concentrations of Mn and Zn elements in plants, during the growing season, resulted from months and cultivars.
