Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effect of the base and clips designs of self-ligating brackets, which are increasingly used in orthodontic practice, on the bond strength of the brackets. 96 bovine lower incisor teeth were divided into 4 equal groups and kept in saline solution in the absence of light until the experimental phase, and distilled water was taken into distilled water one week before the brackets were glued and distilled water was renewed every day.4 groups were formed as follows and all of them are bracket bonding, Empower 2 Interactive with active clips with foil-mesh base,Empower 2 Passive with foil-mesh base structure and passive clips,BioQuick with an active clips and hook-shaped an undercut base structure, BioPassive self-ligating brackets with passive clips and hook-shaped an undercut base structure. In all 4 groups, brackets were bonded to the teeth using the Transbond XT (3M Unitek, USA) adhesive system. For the polymerization of the adhesive, it was irradiated for a total of 4 seconds using the WoodPecker I Led 2 LED (Guilin Woodpecker Medical Instrument, China) light device. Average bond strength values were evaluated statistically using analysis of variance. After the bond strength test, the amount of residual adhesive on the enamel surface was evaluated with the naked eye.Average bond strength values were found to be 17.48 ± 3.10 MPa in the Empower 2 Interactive group, 19.06 ± 4.34 MPa in the Empower 2 Passive group, 16.10 ± 3.61 MPa in the BioQuick group, and 16.18 ± 4.05 MPa in the BioPassive group.According to the bond strength test results, the average bond strength value of the Empower 2 Passive group was found to be statistically significantly higher than the average bond strength values of the BioQuick and BioPassive groups. There was no significant relationship between the distribution of ARI scores and the groups, with the highest percentage values seen in scores 0 and 1. It was observed that the self-ligating bracket systems used in the study had sufficient bond strength to be used in orthodontic clinics. It has been determined that the base design is a more effective factor on the bond strength of brackets in self-ligating bracket systems, but the clips design also affects the bond strength.
