Effect of different irrigation aplications on yield, yield components and water use efficiency of vineyard

Abstract (EN)

A field study was conducted to investigate the effects of full and deficit water level on fresh yield, and quality parameters of seedless grape (Vitis vinifera L.) using drip irrigation system in the Manisa Alaşehir plain during the 2016 growing season. Experiment was set up out in randomized plot design with three replications. In the trial, two known development stages (vegetative-flowering ; vegetative-yield formation stages) of the plant were considered and a total of 8 different drip irrigation tratments were applied. The irrigation treatments were based on soil water depletion replenishments from the effective root zone. Full irrigation treatment "S1" was designated to receive 100 % soil water depletion every 7-day irrigation frequencies. Other treatments, were obtained irrigation water at the rates of 75, 50, 25 and 0 % of full treatments, (S1) on the same development stages. As a results of the study, different irrigation treatments significantly (p<0.01) affected the fresh yield and yield components of grape.The highest average fresh yield (3.960 kg/da) was obtained from the full irrigated treatment (S1). Irrigation water was applied 13 times during the growing season for the treatments. The amounts of applied irrigation water 554.8 mm and seasonal water consumption value 616.2 mm were determined from the full irrigation treatment (S1). The yield response factor (ky) were found to be 1.21 and 0.85, for vegetative-flowering stages and vegetative-yield formation stages, respectively. Seasonal yield response factor (ky) value of 1.04 was determined based on irrigation treatments. The average water use efficieny (WUE) values varied from 5.91 to 10.68 kg/m3 for the irrigation treatments. The highest water use efficiency (WUE) was observed in the S8 non-irrigated treatment (10.68 kg/m3), and the lowest water use efficiency (WUE) was in the S4 treatment (5.91 kg/m3) in the experimental year. It is concluded that full irrigated treatment (S1) could be used under no water shortage conditions during the growing season to obtain highest fresh yield and quality parameters. In the case of limited water supply conditions, deficit irrigation treatment (S2) could be used to maintain satisfactory growth and yield
