Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to develop two scales that aim to determine self-efficacy and attitudes of pre-service science teacher to use the argument method in science courses. In this study, the survey research design which is a quantitative research model was used. The development process of scales has been conducted with four main phases termed as creating of item pool, obtaining expert opinions, implementation, calculation of validity and reliability. At the beginning of the study, the item pool of the attitude scale composed of 32 items and the item pool of the self-efficacy scale include 18 items. Expert opinions about two item pools were taken from five field experts. Then the implementation process was started and data collection process was carried out with 324 students. All of them were studying in 3rd and 4th grades in the science department of education faculty in two public university. The data was collected in 2018-2019 academic year during fall semester. SPSS and Amos package programs were used for analysis of data obtained. Cronbach's Alpha coefficient was calculated to determine the reliability of the scales. In the validity analysis, descriptive factor analysis (DFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were used. According to the results of the analysis, two scales were obtained as "Attitude Scale for The Use of The Argument Method in Science Education" consisting of 25 items with 3 factors and "Self-Efficacy Scale for The Use of The Argument Method in Science Education" composed of 17 items with 3 factors. While Cronbach's Alpha coefficient for Attitude Scale for The Use of The Argument Method in Science Education was found as 0.89, Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of Self-Efficacy Scale for The Use of The Argument Method in Science Education was calculated as 0.91. In this context, it was concluded that obtained two scales were reliable and valuable. Key Words: Science Education, Method of Argument, Self-Efficacy, Attitude
