Abstract (EN)

Intoday'sconditions, accompanyingdiseaseshaveincreasedwithincreasing body weight in patientswhoappliedtophysicaltherapy, regardless of diseasediagnosis, anddecreasedphysicalactivitylevelcontinuedtodecreasethequality of life. Inourstudy; Itwasaimedtoexaminetheprevalence of obesity, accompanyingdiseasesandtheeffect of obesity on quality of life in individualswhoappliedtothephysicaltherapyunit. Thestudy, whichwascarriedout at Medicana Avcılar Hospital in Istanbul, betweenJanuary 1, 2021 andMarch 31, 2021, included 160 patientsaged 18-65 years, with a MMT score of 23 andabove, whoappliedtothephysicaltherapyunitandreceivedtherehabilitation program., the MMT scorevaluewascalculatedbyfillingoutthepersonalinformation form andthe SF 36 Quality of Life Questionnairewasapplied. Whole body fatandmusclemassweremeasuredwiththe "Tanita" deviceunderthesupervision of a dietitian. Themuscleandfatratios in theareasincluded in thetreatment program weredividedintoorthopedicandneurologicalgroupsaccordingtothediagnosisgroupsandcomparedwith BMI. Amongtheparticipants, the rate of thosewhohaveobesity in at leastone in familymemberwas 57.5%.The rate of thosewhodid not have a history of obesitywas 42.5%, andthe presence of concomitantchronicdiseasewasfoundto be significantwhenthegroupwith a history of obesity in at leastone in familymemberandthosewithout it wascompared (p<0.05). It is seenthatespeciallythosewith a familyhistory of obesityhavehighervalueswhentheir BMI valuesareexamined. Itwasobservedthatthemuscleratios of theorthopedicgroupwerelowerwhencomparingthem as orthopedicpatientsandneurologypatientsaccordingtothediagnosis of thedisease. Inaddition, it wasfoundthattherewas a significantcorrelationbetweenageand BMI, fatandmuscleratio, since theneurologicalgrouppatients had higherfatratiosthanorthopedicpatients, andthecorrelationbetweenageand BMI, fatandmuscleratiowassignificant (p<0.05). If the increase in BMI increases in parallel with the fat ratio, regardless of general body weight, the diagnosis of the person's disease definitely, triggers an accompanying chronic disease, regardless of gender, age, height, weight. It has also been determined that a serious decrease in the quality of life of the person may occur if no precautions are taken. Keywords:Obesity, Quality of Life, Body Analysis
