Abstract (EN)
In our country, which has approximately 70% of hazelnut production of the world's, shell emerges ın a large amount of as waste ın after the hazelnut production. These shells are both directly burned for the purpose of generate heat energy and can also be burned by briquetting to obtain higher heat. Although an agricultural waste is evaluated as a result of both uses, the ash generated as a result of burning creates a new waste. Like fly ash, hazelnut shell ash also shows pozzolanic feature due to silica in high amount ın content. For this reason, it is a material that can be used interchangeably with binder in especially concrete production in the construction sector. In this study, it was aimed to investigate of usability pozzolanic material in concrete production of ash produced by burning of hazelnut shell and hazelnut shell briquettes which is an agricultural waste as pozzolanic material in concrete production and examine of sufficiency in terms of agricultural structures of these concretes. For this purpose, hazelnut shell ash and hazelnut shell briquette ash were used as displacement in 5,10,15 and 20 % rates with cement in concrete production. In concrete samples produced using with ash in different amounts has been made unit weight and air content tests for different curing times to properties of fresh concrete; Unit weight, compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, water absorption rate, dynamic elasticity module, freeze-thaw test, permeability, sound transmission rate and thermal conductivity tests for different curing times to hardened concrete properties. In addition, SEM images were taken and their microstructure was examined for each additive ratio. According to the results of the research, the unit weights of the concrete samples decreased for both ashes depending on the amount of ash entering to mixture. This reduction in unit weights varied between 4% and 13,67% as depending on the ash ratio in the mixture for hazelnut shell ash and between 5,30% and 14,93% for hazelnut briquette ash. The compressive strength increased as direct proportion with the curing time of both hazelnut shell ash used as a replacement with cement. However, their compressive strength decreased depending on the amount of ash entering the mixture and this decrease has been from 33,20 MPa to 27,47 MPa for hazelnut shell ash, and from 33,20 MPa to 26,10 MPa for hazelnut shell briquette ash. It was determined that with the ash ratio of thermal insulation properties of the produced concrete samples increased and an improvement was achieved by 33% in the samples with 20% hazelnut shell ash and 39% in the briquette ash. As a result, concretes produced by using up to 10% hazelnut shell ash and up to 5% nut shell briquette ash as pozzolan material are in C25 concrete class. It can be said that these concretes can be used in carrier, partition elements and floors in order to increase the waffle in agricultural buildings, reduce the weight of the building elements and reduce the cost of the building.
