Abstract (EN)

We tried to study the time in Turkish Divan of Fuzûlî in our thesis. Time is a quite abstract concept which rouses great interest in all terms. Glancing at the time is also related to looking at life and yourself. We followed the signs of the concept in the Divan of Fuzûlî time which is usually investigated in narrative literary types. We tried to set up a relationship between the idea and glancing structure of that age and time concept. Fuzûlî is one of the most famous poets of classical Turkish poetry. Not only expressing himself, he was also reflecting the tradion in which he was grown up. This is one of the most important reasons for choosing him in our research. We can say that a relationship among time, destiny and fate were set up with the impact of that period?s ideas about life which causes negative associations at approaches to time and destiny. Natural processes were used at classifying the time. The movements of the sun were effective at this classification. Poet loads an association according to his spiritual status at the different times of the day. Spring was the most attractive season. Like a lot of naturel elements, spring was also used as an aesthetic element. Furthermore, the relationship of spring with love and revival causes this season to be used most often in the divan. Both of these concepts are related with immortality. Poet attaches importance to be permanent. Life up to relationship between being permanent and reality, the poet accepts the permanent as real. In our opinion, the existence and time understanding of the poet was shaped by vahdet-i vücud of tasavvuf. Present time is more important than future and past. We can say that the time concept in our age is very foreign to that of both Ottoman and Islamic age. There are important differences between the time concept which is based on progressing forward and that is not progressive in Islamic understanding. Because of this difference, when we glance at Ottomans, we see static social structure. When we identify the time independent of time variation, we can say all societies have their own time understanding. Key Word: Fuzûlî, Divan Poetry, Time, Immortality, Reality.
