Harvesting and threshing mechanization of rice in the region of Gap, Karacadağ

Combine tests were conducted in commercial rice fields that was carried out three replication according to the method of split divided experimental design, in Cınar town, near Karacadag region in Diyarbakır. This combine was used both directly and stationary. The objectives of this study was to determine grain loses, causes and reduced grain losses methods depend on selected independent parameters in filed conditions. In this study, moisture content, forward speed, drum speed were selected independent parameters. Three moisture level (%22.10, %24.81 and %28.81), three different combine forward speeds (1.6 km/h, 3.2 km/h and 4.8 km/h) and four levels of drum speed (600, 700, 800 and 900 d/d) were selected for self-propelled combine harvester. Three moisture level (%19.12, %21.45 and %21.81) and four levels of drum speed (600, 700, 800 and 900 min-1) were selected for stationary combine harvester.The analysis of variance the main effects of moisture content, forward speeds and drum speed significantly affected grain losses. Test results indicated that total grain losses decreases with increase moisture content and drum speed. Also, forward speed has been increased the total grain losses. When the effect of all testing combination was evaluated together, the lowest total grain loses was found at 28.85 % moisture content, 4.8 km/h forward speed and 900 min-1 drum speed as 4.0 % while the highest total grain loses was found at 24.81% moisture content, 3.2 km/h forward speed and 600 min-1 drum speed as 16.97%
