The Analysis of form and contents of feature pages of the newspapers

However, the discussions about which events have the characteristic of news, prevent to define a unique description for the news. Though, the truth, currency, clearness, interest and importance are the common concepts that are used to define news. Unlike the standard news that uses normal regulations, feature news is highly based on the interests and importance of the events, aiming to entertain the reader. The descriptions and narration are widely used in future news. Because of the anti-democratic restrictions due to frequent military revolution in Türkiye and the penetration of the holding company in to the press business after the second decade of the 1980's, the press was directed for alternative ways. This search is ended with the widely occurrence of the future news in the newspapers as increasing number of pages and supplements. However, in time the real feature news became to be gossip and paparazzi of private life of popular people. Considering these developments, the base of this study is to determine how skilful the Turkish Press is considering the page designs and presentations of future news. For this reason, the forms and contents of feature pages of newspapers are analysed. Consequently, it is determined that there are not any difference between feature pages and the other pages, in the aspect of page design and illustration. The confusion of presenting standard news together with the gossip and paparazzi as feature news, has to be corrected. The real feature news has to be published in the feature pages.
