Abstract (EN)

In the field of nursing, a deficiency was detected when a literature review was conducted on the effect of the spirituality level of pregnant women on pregnancy. This study was carried out to reveal the effect of spirituality level on fear of childbirth and happiness in pregnant women and to contribute to the literature. The data of the cross-sectional study were collected from pregnant women between the ages of 18-49, who were 20-34 weeks old, who applied to the obstetrics clinic of two state hospitals and a private hospital in Gaziantep between September 2022 and February 2023. According to the power analysis, it was seen that it was sufficient to work with 532 participants when the confidence interval of 95% (1-β) was required to be 0.85 (G-Power, v3.1.9.7). Our study was conducted with 611 pregnant women. The data of the research; It was collected with "Personal Information Form," "Birth Attitude Scale (BAS)," "Spirituality Scale (SS)" and "Oxford Happiness Scale (OHS)". In the analysis of the data, mean and standard deviation (SD) for continuous variables and data for categorical variables were reported using numbers (n) and percentage (%). Independent samples t test was used in the evaluation of the paired groups, and the Oneway ANOVA test was used in the evaluation of the groups of three or more. Pearson Product-Moment Correlation analysis was used for the relationship between continuous variables. Prediction of the scales to each other was evaluated by Simple Linear Regression Analysis. A negative, weak, and statistically significant relationship was found between SS and BAS (r=-0.106, p=0.009). On the other hand, a positive, moderate and statistically significant relationship was found between SS and OHS (r=0.427, p<0.001). In addition, it was observed that there was a negative, weak and statistically significant relationship between BAS and OHS (r=-0.286, p<0.001). It was found that there was a statistically significant predictor (explanator) of fear of birth and happiness score. It is suggested that nurses' practices for spiritual care in pregnant women should be supported and studies on this subject should be increased.
