Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effects of the childhood traumas and the attachment styles on the anxiety levels of late adolescents were examined. The Mann Whitney U test was used to analyze the difference between the two non-parametric groups in comparison of the quantitative data. The Kruskal Wallis test was used for intergroup comparisons of parameters in the presence of more than two non-parametric groups. The relationship between the variables of the study was tested with Spearman correlation analysis. The effect of scales on each other was tested by multiple linear regression. Due to the obtained data, the positive statistically significant relationship was found between the total score of childhood trauma scale, subdimensions of the physical neglect, emotional neglect, physical abuse, emotional abuse, overprotection-overcontrol and the attachment styles total score, anxious attachment subdimension, and avoidant attachment subdimension. There is no important relationship was found between sexual abuse, which is one of the childhood traumas sub-dimensions, and anxious attachment. When the effects of childhood traumas and attachment styles on anxiety levels were examined both separately and together, it was occurred that the emotional neglect, emotional abuse and over-protection control, which are sub-dimensions of childhood traumas, had a meaningful influence on the continuous anxiety level. Secondly, the anxiety and avoidant attachment, which are sub-dimensions of attachment styles, had a meaningful effect on continuous anxiety level. As the last word, when the childhood traumas and attachment styles were evaluated together, it was observed that they have a significant effect on trait anxiety level. Briefly, the aim of this study is completed to examine the effects of childhood trauma and attachment styles on anxiety levels separately and together, thus, gain to the literature.
