Abstract (EN)

Traditional knowledge is the whole of beliefs, thoughts and actions that are left by ancestors of a particular region and that are passed verbally from generation to generation. The aim of this study is to identify and examine the traditional knowledge in Cudibey and Elmaalan Neighborhoods of Arsin District of Trabzon Province. The aforementioned region, which gained the status of a neighborhood after Trabzon became a metropolitan city in 2012, still preserves its village characteristics. However, factors such as migration, technological developments, the increase in educational status and the spread of urban opportunities to rural areas affect the intergenerational change and transformation of traditional knowledge. Within the scope of the thesis, traditional knowledge of the region's folk architecture, transition periods, children's games, folk calendar, folk medicine, folk belief, agriculturism, and cuisine culture are analyzed in the context of the above-mentioned factors, in line with the interviews with the source people.
