Investigation of the use of the fabrics produced with recycled yarns in automotive seat covers

The need for sustainability and environmental protection is increasing day by day. At this point, raw materials should be reused and minimum waste should be left to nature. It is important to use recycled fibres in the production of automotive seat fabrics with high usage. In this study; it is aimed to evaluate the performance properties of automotive seat cover fabrics produced with yarns obtained from mechanically recycled cotton and chemically recycled polyester fibres. In this purpose; 6 fabrics were produced using recycled yarns in both warp and weft, 6 fabrics were produced using polyester fibres produced by conventional methods in warp and 6 fabrics using recycled yarns in weft, 12 fabrics in total. All fabrics produced were tested and compared according to the specified automotive standards. As a result of the tests, it was determined that the performances of the automotive seat cover fabrics developed are in accordance with automotive standards.
