Abstract (EN)

Today, users want their clothes to provide additional functions beyond protection from atmospheric conditions and adomment. Therefore, the tendency towards functional and smart textiles with high added value is increasing. In the scope of this thesis project, it is aimed to develop a process that will ensure the dyeability of cotton fabrics with halochromic and photochromic dyes according to conventional exhaustion and padding methods. For this purpose, after chemical modification, dyeing of cotton fibers according to wool dyeing or pigment dyeing process used by piece dyers was studied. In addition, application according to the padding method was also tried. After determining the optimum application methods and conditions for halochromic and photochromic dyes, binary combinations were also performed under optimum conditions determined for these dyes. As a result of the work done, it has been achieved to develop a method for producing cotton smart sensor clothes (or a small tag to be attached to a garment or a wristband, etc.) that can provide one or both of the following functions; •notifying if there is a dangerous chemical vapor (acid-alkali vapors) in the environment (halochromic) and, •creating a visual effect (photochromic) by changing color with UV rays on the one hand, while providing protection against UV rays on the other hand.
