Abstract (EN)

Coats of arms, which have survived from ancient civilizations to the present, appear in the form of tamga to symbolize a community or tribe as well as communication. The coat of arms, which emerged with the abstraction or direct use of many figurative objects inspired by nature, were used together with spiritual and religious thoughts through various images and symbols by making use of the calmness or viciousness of nature. In this way, coats of arms and symbols emerge as a product of spiritual and religious thoughts and become a sign of the ruling class, especially by developing with kings who consider themselves God. Coats of arms represent a certain authority as well as social status. It has hidden meanings from the colors used to the figures it contains. Parallel to this situation, it is in the form of an identifying identity in its position. Coats of arms are found not only in architecture but also in all kinds of structures and works of art. It is possible to come across these symbols on a weapon, on a handcrafted carpet, in reliefs or in pictures. The use of coat of arms in public and state institutions was very common in ancient civilizations. Symbols and shapes on the coats of arms show the cultural accumulation of civilizations or states. Based on this information, the design principles and semiotic analysis of the state emblems of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Turkey, which are members of the Organization of Turkish States, as well as the observer countries Hungary, Turkmenistan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, were made in the context of visual communication. Members and observers of the Organization of Turkish States are among the design principles of the national coats of arms of these countries; integrity, balance, proportion-proportion, visual hierarchy and accentuation techniques are discussed from a semiotic point of view. The examined coats of arms of these member countries of the Organization were compared with each other. Since no scientific studies have been done on this subject before, this thesis study has a unique quality.
