Examining the views of visual arts teachers on digital art

The aim of this research is to determine the opinions of visual arts teachers on digital art. The research universe consists of 41 visual arts teachers in total, 26 male and 15 female, who volunteered to participate in the research, aged between 25 and 53, and working in public schools, private schools and public education center courses affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Diyarbakır province in 2023-2024, and whose tenures ranged from 1 to 24 years. The research was conducted using the interview technique, which is one of the qualitative research methods. Expert opinion was obtained in order to ensure the content validity of the interview form. The interview form consists of 3 sections: demographic (gender, age and tenure), semi-structured (4 questions consisting of yes and no) and structured (11 questions). In the interpretation of the findings, the data of the answers given to the questions were stated graphically, and interpretations were made using the graphic data and the opinions of the participants. As a result of the research, it was seen that the majority of visual arts teachers evaluated digital art as a form of art that emerged and was accepted as a result of the combination of technology and art, that schools did not have sufficient infrastructure for digital art education, that they followed current art developments, that they welcomed the use of technologies in art education, that they believed that digital art education should be present in visual art education, that there was a sufficient level of knowledge in Turkey about digital art, that technology would contribute to teaching processes and that it would have a better effect on students' development. Suggestions were made regarding the need for digital art to be included in the education curriculum for its development in Turkey, the need to plan in-service training activities, the elimination of technological infrastructure problems in schools and the conduct of awareness studies for the recognition of digital art by wider audiences.
